Physical Death

Physical Death  The Scriptures teach that physical death is a result of  spiritual deaththe penalty for sin. (Gen 2:17; Gen 3:19; Job 4:18; Job 4:19; Job 14:1; Job 14:2; Rom 5:12; Rom 6:23; 1 Cor 15:21; 1 Cor 15:22; 2 Cor 5:2; 2 Cor 5:4; 2 Tim 1:10). At physical death, the human soul is separated from the human body (1 Kgs 17:21), and in the case of Christian death, then death is no longer a penalty and the soul goes to be with the Lord, who paid the penalty (2 Cor 5:8; Psa 16:10; Job 27:8; Phil 1:21; Phil 1:23; 1 Thess 4:13; 1 Thess 4:14; Mark 5:39; 1 Pet 5:8; Rev 21:4). At death, the unbeliever's soul goes to Torments to await the Great White Throne Judgment.
