Taking Your Topical Notebook With You
If you are on-the-go a lot, you may enjoy this idea:
Usually, we cannot take our laptops with us everywhere we go. But we can now take our Bible notes. Having put a great deal of effort into organizing your topical notes into a Personal Systematic Theology, wouldn't it be useful to have them available to you on anyone's computer, wherever you go?
You can do that by purchasing a device, called by many names, depending on the manufacturer. Your computer's operating system probably calls it a "USB Mass Storage Device." Here, we'll call it a "Memory Stick." The one shown below is only as wide as a dime, is 2 ¾ inches long, and you can hang it around your neck. (If you want to call it your "Phylactery," that's OK. Just smile and say, "You CAN take it with you.")

The one pictured above was manufactured by SanDisk Corporation. They call it their "Cruzer™ Mini USB Flash Drive." This one has 256 MB of memory and appears as a disk drive, when plugged into a USB port. You may copy the entire PST structure to it by selecting the "C:\NOTEBOOK_PST" filename and dragging it to whatever drive name is given to the stick memory device on your computer (E: F: G: etc).
You should never unplug these devices when they are flashing (transferring data) or otherwise indicating that they are active (any light showing). While it is not necessary to shut down your computer, you should be careful when you unplug the device. Just follow the instructions that come with it.
Usually, one simply finds an icon (such as
or
) on the task bar that displays "Unplug or Eject
Hardware," when you move the mouse pointer over it. If you click the icon, a list of USB devices will appear, from
which you are to select one. Typically, the item you want to select will read. "Stop USB Mass Storage Device -
Drive (G:)." After selecting and clicking the appropriate item, any lights showing on the memory stick will go out,
and a pop-up message will appear, saying, "The 'USB Mass Storage Device' device can now be safely removed from the
system." Click "OK" and unplug the device.
Try it! You'll like it!
